Jon is a Yorkshireman, but we don't hold it against him. He
is very vocal around the green and can be a little kranky if he doesn't get
the same support himself. But nobody can deny that when he is in a high class
team competition, he has the ability to raise his game a couple of notches.
Jon played some excellent bowls in the Premier Cup in 2002, particularly in
the semi-final. In the first round he beat F. Heighway (Royton CC) 21-17, in
the quarter finals he beat L. Butterworth (Springhead Libs) 21-13, capped with
an excellent win over John Bancroft (Grapes Hotel) 21-11 in the semi-final.
